| CoD4 TWL Open Finals |
August 26, 2008 at 4:05pm |
Monday night, Final Destination's CoD4 team faced rV in the TWL open finals. This is kind of ironic, because all 10 players involved are former America's Army players, and we somehow made it to finals. It is TWL, though, after all.
TWL runs a best-of-three finals match, where each team picks their map of choice and, if necessary, the third map is picked by TWL. We started off with Backlot, while rV picked Crossfire. Our 5 were:
darrk word prada thunder row
We began on assault on Backlot, and traded rounds fairly consistently. Darrk, thunder, and word worked A, but rV had some sick nades that more than once got us to a 3v5 or 2v5 in the first 10 or 15 seconds. Prada and row got caught in each others panties around mid building, and we finished the half with a slightly disheartening 6-6. Switching to assault, our nades seemed to be ineffective as rV took the first two, taking the lead 8-6. At this point, row took off his clutch panties and gave them to prada. Equipped with the strength of 2 now, prada pretty much single-handedly won us the match, going 28-5 on defense alone. Also some great clutch work by darrk and smart plays by thunder and word (including proning in tall grass by word <3) led to a 13-10 win. Row pretty much ran around naked and was utterly useless on defense, but prada's herculean showing more than made up for that.
We switched servers and maps to their pick of crossfire which, fortunately, is one of our favorite maps as well. We began on defense, with thunder and prada playing A side, darrk and word in cafe, and row scoping from anywhere he could. Prada continued his momentum from backlot, getting like 10 kills in round 1 or something, which is pretty impressive. He aced while we all watched, basically. Row finally decided to contribute with the scope, darrk's shotgun melee down the road was one for the books. Up 10-2 at the half, we were pretty confident. On assault, darrk's aggressiveness at A paid off, while thunder's quick bomb skills and word's domination in B house led us to a 13-4 victory.
All in all, everyone did their parts well, except when prada did all of our parts and we just chalked it up to MDK.
GG rV, good luck next season.

CAL Week 3 mp_strike
Roster: darrk cmythunder word sally row
Week 3 of CAL, we faced neutraL on strike. We started on assault, and traded rounds trying to get a feel for their style. Once we found something that worked, we stuck to it and finished out the half 7-5. Once on defense, we just played our game and did an excellent job at reading their plays early and countering. We only lost one on defense, and finished the match 18-6. gg neutraL Clip of the Week (put together by sally aka bra1ndamage) is in the match report on the site. |
